The environment is an important issue around the world. One problem is what to do with all the waste we produce. We can help to minimise this problem by reusing and recycling. This means making sure that we use things more than once, instead of throwing them away, and processing used products to make new ones. ---copied from the textbook we use.
The very impressive way I tried when I was just 7 years old was a self-made match-gun. Firstly, I collected as many bicycle chains as I could get. Not the rusty ones, the newer, the better. Sometimes, I remembered, I begged my little fellow again and again for his daddy’s old bike, just for the chain, Not that easy, as you think. I would find a drill and a hammer to get the chains separated and normally it took several days to finish them all. And my fingers suffered a lot because I was not that experienced and the hammer would fall on my hand. Secondly, burnish a big nail to make it into a bolt. Thirdly, I would use a rubber band to fix the chains. Lastly, a gun rack was made. How to get the gun power? Easy at that time! Kids like us would steal matches from our kitchen. I had so much fun making the gun and playing with it. Each of us used to play a lot during the whole noon, fresh not sleepy. I did not know what tiredness was.
Was it a kind of recycling? I hope so.
In my class today the whole class did a good job. They made up sentences using reduce, reuse and recycle. They suggested the express packages should be collected at box banks and reused... Look! Here are their works. Although they do not seem that beautiful, yet they are beginning to realize they can do something to protect the environment!
